Creative Clay Getaway

Artists-potters Martha and Gordon James offer one day pottery workshops to suit your needs and schedule.

Workshops may discuss and demonstrate an assortment of pottery techniques including: Ceramic processes and materials. Handbuilding with Porcelain-form and surface. Throwing on the potter’s wheel. Artistry and skills, Designing Dinnerware, Handbuilding Stoneware Sculpture-wheel and/slab construction, the Figure with Humour. Functional Pottery Demonstrations: throwing, altering, trimming, decoration and glazing. Maiolica techniques. Porcelain techniques.

Conversation, question and answer, demonstration, show and tell. Thirty-five years of experience as professional potters.

James Pottery has a large, well equipped studio and gallery with room for up to 12 participants. Workshops can be tailored for the level and experience of each person from beginner to professional. Enjoy an atmosphere of creativity and experimentation.
The pottery is located on an historic homestead on the south end of Quadra Island. The breathtaking view from the cliff looks south over the Strait of Georgia.

Rates
$159/person per day (based on double occupancy and subject to availability) includes workshop, accommodation and box lunch. Taxes not included prices in Canadian funds and are subject to change.
